Karen Lisa Laing

Inspiring others to be fitter, through Pilates, writing and doing.

Karen manages the holistic and women’s health arm of Fit School.

"Thank you for being such a fantastic teacher and developing my love for Pilates."

"Karen you are awesome and I'm so grateful to have your help and advice throughout this pregnancy."

"Thank you for an inspiring morning."

"Your approach to exercise is empowering as well as enjoyable, making exercise something to look forward to and less of a chore. More than this however, is your personal touch - you have always cared about each and every one of us and we are very lucky to have had you as a teacher."

I teach Pilates classes in Epping and Essex as well as teaching and co-ordinating private classes (like our corporate classes). I write and present on health and fitness, specifically women’s health issues and am a consultant for Active Essex.

My aim and that of Fit School is to break down barriers to health and fitness. My classes are fun and friendly environments. We aren’t on a quest for the body beautiful (although all of my participants are pretty perfect and beautiful in my opinion) but we do want to help you stay injury and pain free, reduce stress, make you feel better and encourage you to get an exercise habit for life.

My expertise is women’s health, specifically pre natal wellbeing and post natal recovery, beginning with the pelvic floor.

Earlier this year, I presented at FitPro LIVE, the biggest fitness conference in the UK, alongside the likes of Katie-Bulmer Cooke (BBC's The Apprentice) and boxing star Ricky Hatton.

Last year I presented at the WIFE (Women in Fitness Empowerment) Rising Stars event and helped to host this year's WIFE in Business Day.

My work has appeared in national publications and websites including The Huffington PostThe Guardian, Sweaty Betty, FitPro Magazine, BabyCentre, The Sun, Sainsbury’s Magazine, Zest and Bodyfit magazines. I also have a successful blog -  www.alittlefitter.com and website - www.karenlisalaing.com.

I've written a book for the UK’s leading fitness presenter, Rachel Holmes, Kick Start Fat Loss: The Revolution and have written a book, Through the Eyes of a Child  for child abuse campaigner, Chris Tuck (published 2013).

Corporate clients include Polestar Fitness, international fashion brand Bordoni, Maxfit UK, Chris Tuck fitness and Nisha Oibadullah.

I've also consulted for international fitness clothing brand Sweaty Betty.

I've trained with the YMCA, JPilates, Les Mills, Holmes Place, Nike and Future Fit.
